Katy Perry has been compelled to cancel her scheduled concerts in Mexico due to the incomplete construction of the Arena Guadalajara, the intended venue for her performances. The event promoter, Zignia Live, announced that the arena’s construction has not progressed sufficiently to ensure the safety and quality expected for such events. This decision affects not only Perry’s shows but also other artists like Carlos Rivera and Intocable, who were slated to perform at the same venue.
In a statement, Zignia Live expressed their commitment to delivering high-quality and safe events, stating, “We strive to offer shows with the quality and safety you deserve. Although we’ve made significant efforts alongside our contractors and workers, we’re not yet fully prepared to welcome you.”
Fans who purchased tickets for the canceled shows can request refunds starting April 22 by emailing reembolsos@superboletos.com with the subject line “REEMBOLSOS ARENA GDL.” The refund process is expected to take between four to seven business days and will include all service charges.
This isn’t the first time Katy Perry has faced tour disruptions due to production issues. In 2017, she postponed the start of her “Witness” tour because essential stage design elements weren’t ready in time for rehearsals. She apologized to fans for the inconvenience, emphasizing her desire to deliver a show that meets her standards.
As of now, there is no information regarding rescheduled dates for the Mexico concerts. Fans are advised to stay updated through official channels for any future announcements.
